Introduce yourself
My name is JamalEdeen Barghouti and I’m the Director of Marketing for Blackbird. I am a first-generation Palestinian American, I have spent the majority of my life living in Reno Nevada. I’m a libra sun, gemini moon. ENFJ, I like long walks from my bedroom to my WFH office and singing karaoke in the living room with my roommates while pretending we’re at a noisy bar full of people.
What is the name of your mixtape?
The name of my Mixtape is “Quarantine Valentine”. It’s a collection of songs that make me think about love; some of them are songs I shared with previous lovers and valentines that have since taken on a new meaning. For the most part they just make me think about being a protagonist in a quirky RomCom about being gay and in love. I spent the first half of 2020 pining for romance and the second half with a Pandemic Paramour. I made this mixtape for him <3. I suggest listening to it once all the way through before putting it on shuffle.
Are you a creative person?
Yes! I think most people are creative in their own ways. My imagination is really active and I spend a lot of my time daydreaming and thinking. I love to write, I also love to do my makeup; another way that I explore my creativity.
What keeps you creative?
PoKiNg SmOt forsure. Cannabis is a huge help to me in my creative process because it gets me out of my head and helps me look at things from a different perspective. I also think that people from multi-cultural backgrounds, especially queer folks, have to be a little imaginitive. We are constantly navigating a world that was not really built for us which forces us to be creative.
What keeps you moving?
Good music, good people, and good weed.
